Windsor is Canada’s southernmost city and we are known as “The City of Roses”. We are directly across from Detroit Michigan, separated by the Detroit river. Living in Windsor offers a host of activities to attend being so close to the border and all that Detroit has to offer above and beyond what you may see in Windsor itself. Tiger’s games, Lion’s games, Red Wings games and plays are just a few of the things we can readily enjoy across the border.
In Windsor we have WFCU where you can catch a spitfire’s game, concerts, cirque du Soleil and many more acts. We have miles of bike trails, walking trails, parks, Adventure Bay which is our new water park and also has major swim events due to our state of the art pool. We also have Caesar’s Windsor which offers a host of attractions from concerts to stand up comedians. There is also the art gallery and Windsor Symphony Orchestra.
Windsor has four distinct seasons with our winters normally being relatively easy to deal with. The winter of 2013/2014 was an exception to this rule where we were pummelled with snow and cold weather.
Windsor’s economy is becoming more diverse but is currently primarily based on manufacturing, education and government services. The University of Windsor and St. Clair college are both significant local employer’s with both expanding substantially over the last few years.
Windsor is also home to Hiram Walker & Sons Limited. This distillery brought about some great homes in what is now known as Walkerville to Windsorites. Some homes in this area are now sought after and we have seen values soar to get a piece of this old architecture.
Major crime in Windsor is relatively low where most people would feel safe in any part of Windsor at any time of day or night.
There is much more to say about Windsor, if you are planning to move to this area please give me a call or send me an email and I would be happy to discuss great reasons for a person to call Windsor home.
